Studio Calendar & Events
New Drop-In Times Added!
In an effort to cater to as many of your busy schedules as we can, beginning in November, Anne will be hosting a Wednesday Evening Drop-In session from 6-9pm, every other week. What a great opportunity for those of you who work during the week to get a little extra help when needed! This will come in addition to our normal Drop-In hours, which are as follows:
Tuesdays with Kaity 1-4pm
Wednesdays (Every Other Week) with Anne 6-9pm
Thursdays with Kaity 1-4pm
Fridays with Karin 10-1pm
Saturdays with Anne 12:30-3:30
Sundays with Karin 2-5pm
If you are ever unsure of when we are open for drop-in help, always check our Calendar on the home page of our website.
Bring everything that you have been thinking about clearing out of your stash. Maybe you have moved on from a color, yarn style, or a fiber. At The Great Stash Exchange, you can trust that these yarny and textile goods can be sent to new, caring homes. This year we will welcome fabric, craft books and any other craft items that you have moved on from.
How it works:
Between January 16 and 30, you can drop off yarn at the Studio during Drop-in hours. We will sort and prep the donations for the big event.
The Great Stash Exchange!
Jan. 31, Feb. 1, and Feb. 2
Strings & Things Studio Book Club
How you can help:
-Bring the goods. Let's make room in our stashes for all of the new treasures that 2020 (and beyond) may hold.
-Spread the word. Everyone's stash needs a good airing out and we hope that as many textile lovers as can be get access to this opportunity.
-If you have a chance to presort or tidy any unruly balls, then thanks in advance for the assist.
-Bring your reusable shopping bags when you visit The Great Stash Exchange.
When does it all go down:
Friday, Jan. 31, 6-8pm: Member preview evening
Saturday, Feb. 1, 4-6pm: All are welcome
Sunday, Feb. 2, 11am-1pm: All are welcome
Please note:Anyone can come and take from the Exchange; it feels good to let go of objects that aren't a part of our creative journey anymore, especially with the promise of those things going home with someone who will now enjoy them. So, if you have 2000 balls of yarn to unload or you just need 2 balls to make a new project, then please come and partake. After The Great Stash Exchange, we will be donating the remainders.
We here at the studio are avid readers, and thought we would share our love of reading with all of you! We are starting a Book Club, and the way it works will be that we choose a book, give you a period of time to read it, and Anne, Kaity, and Karin will discuss it in an upcoming special episode of our Podcast, Strings Unraveled.
For our next book, we chose The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck. It's a classic that you may have read already or always meant to. If you want to join us, pick up a copy (also available as an Audiobook if you prefer to listen) and read it by January 20, when the special episode of Strings Unraveled will be available to listen to where we discuss the novel.
Mindful Movement with Mindy
Please join Mindy Heydon in a movement and stretching class meant to teach you how to take care of your crafting body. So often, we get in the flow of making and forget to move around. Mindy will teach you some simple moves that will help any body feel better while devoting hours to your given craft. Space is limited so be sure to sign up early.
Yarnover Truck Visit
We always have a great time when the Yarnover Truck comes to visit! The Truck will be here Sunday, March 1st, from Noon-3pm (with an exclusive shopping hour for members from 11am-Noon!) EXTENDED DROP IN TIME!!! Drop in will begin at 11 am on that day! The Studio will be open for your comfort, help, and retail relaxing from 11-5.
